UGO RONDINONE « VOCABULARY OF SOLITUDE » EXHIBITION AT MUSEUM BOIJMANS IN ROTTERDAM
The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen of Rotterdam will host Ugo Rondinone « Vocabulary of Solitude » exhibition from the 13th of February until the 29th of May. Boijmans has always been a platform for international contemporary artists, a relatively rare feature in Netherlands artistic scene. « Vocabulary of solitude » is the first solo exhibition of the Swiss artist in the country. Focusing on the various facets of human existence while being on your own, the exhibition reveals how beautiful solitude can be. Sculptures of clowns are the main subjects, but also candles, clocks, lamps, rainbows and all symbols of free associations and memories. A dreamscape filled in with titles reminding us all day to day actions in the life of an individual. Inspired by the color spectrum, as we can see in its rainbow installation, the exhibition follows the artist primal belief of using accessible imagery and symbols to speak with the largest audience. The work of art needs to create a room for reflection without forcing the audience to think but as a natural flow when people can simply and genuinely accept and experience the piece of art.
The exhibition opening is set on Saturday the 13th during the Art Rotterdam International Art Fair and the simultaneous Rotterdam Week (10-14 February)
