The festival will begin with an extravaganza weekend in Marseille, followed by nocturnal exhibitions in various neighborhoods, and culminating in a grand finale collaboration with the Aix-en-Provence Biennale. Shuttle circuits will transport art enthusiasts to the Pays d’Aix and the towns surrounding Étang de Berre, facilitating access to the myriad exhibitions and events.
Over 150 emerging artists from both France and abroad have been extended invitations to participate, ensuring a dynamic convergence of artistic expression at one of France’s premier contemporary art gatherings.
Since its inception in 2007, the Provence Art Contemporain network has united entities dedicated to contemporary creation, encompassing venues in urban centers and rural landscapes, from public and private sectors.
During the Printemps de l’Art Contemporain, network members unite with festival-affiliated organizations under a shared mission to promote creativity, artists, and collaboration. Their collective ethos emphasizes inclusivity, extending artistic endeavors into diverse societal spheres such as schools, prisons, and hospitals.
The festival’s inauguration on May 2nd at 5:00 PM heralds a lively nocturnal affair across Marseille’s Opéra, Préfecture, Cours Julien, and Camas districts. The festivities will begin with a public performance graced by the presence of Jean-Marc Coppola, Deputy Mayor of Marseille overseeing culture, creation, cultural heritage, and cinema.
This 16th edition of the Printemps de l’Art Contemporain promises a captivating journey through the unlimited fields of contemporary art, where creativity is celebrated in all fields.
