ANN DEMEULEMEESTER FW25 : ROAD TO NEVER

By Iris JEANSON

« Let’s get lost, find ourselves, get lost again » expresses Stefano Gallici, creative director of Ann Demeulemeester. Road to never reflects the theme of self-discovery through a journey into the unknown. The Autumn/Winter 2025 collection is full of memories and dreams, with a focus on transformation, the wardrobe combines raw, tactile materials like distressed shearling and faded denim.

Each piece tells a story of weathered time and rebirth. The garments, much like the traveler, change, wear, and become something new, representing personal growth and the passage of time.

The traveler is imagined in various settings, from a bustling boulevard to a vast desert field, encapsulating the versatility of the pieces. The layering of garments, from suits to oversized hats that protect against the harsh sun, speaks to a need for both practicality and style. The collection draws from the idea of wearing one’s experiences: the fading of favorite clothes, the transformation of materials, and the accumulation of memories.

The use of black, grey, and earth tones symbolizes the quietude of the desert and the storm that stirs within. The sharp, knife-like contrast of black and white gives a nod to the precision and purpose that the designer yearns for—a longing for uniformity among the chaos of life.

The collection’s dreamy, evocative atmosphere is enhanced by a soundtrack from The Cult and Ian Astbury, with styling by Elodie David Touboul. Gallici, who became creative director in 2023, honors Ann Demeulemeester’s legacy while bringing a fresh, vibrant vision to the house.
