BACKSTAGE AT DIOR HAUTE COUTURE SPRING-SUMMER 2015 PARIS
By Crash redaction
Presented at the Musée Rodin in Paris, the Christian Dior haute couture collection was everything couture needs to be in the future. From the use of materials to the shapes – the psychedelic jumpsuits have to be mentioned – Raf Simons continues his path to redefining the Dior woman’s identity. The first looks to walk down the glorious scaffoldings covered in pink carpeting were capes made of transparent printed plastic, worn over embroidered shift dresses. Though we could feel some references to the 60s and 70s, it is clear that Raf Simons is looking into the future, without detracting from the House’s identity. Flowers are the essence of Dior and it is refreshing to witness Raf Simons reinterpret this element of its DNA season after season while incorporating his very own, subtle vision to his designs. More than know-how and craftsmanship, the Raf Simons collections for Dior are always a true moment of poetry.
