DIOR SS16 SHOW: A BACKSTAGE STORY

Today, on this fourth day of Paris Fashion Week, Dior invited their prestigious guests into an man-made hill grandeur nature covered in delphiniums in several shades of blue, installed in the Cour Carré du Louvre. An almost surrealistic, yet very romantic vision that made the occasion for a perfect snapshot. Inside, the collection presented by Raf Simons was everything the Dior House is about: romance, history, femininity, and modernity. All the models were wearing delicate chokers incrusted with one big precious stone, and delicate scarves were sometimes wrapped around their necks like 2.0 turtlenecks. Light white shorts paired with a white cropped top opened the show while the next looks played with the visual contrast given by the black vests worn over white sheer tops. Then came what is surely going to be next season’s big hit: the cropped knitted sweaters. Worn over fluid, sheer dresses, they gave an impression of comfort and ease, and, even though this is a spring collection, a Dior cropped sweater does seem natural after all. Three-piece suits were worn with cropped vests on bare skin, and color appeared with large beige and copper stripes on coats. Thoughtful, romantic, strong: Raf Simons shows he knows how to deliver a great collection and stay in the continuity of his own vision and the Dior heritage.
