BACKSTAGE AT I’M ISOLA MARRAS FALL WINTER 2016 MILAN

The I’m Isola Marras Fall Winter 2016 collection is inspired by the early 20th century Soviet atmosphere. The looks are sober and simply textured but with a romantic touch due to the delicate color palette going from a powder violet to peacock blue and pale yellow. Inspired by the 20s and Russian Constructivism, the graphic prints representing abstract flowers, stripes, geometrical shapes and, from time to time, Antonio Marras’ funny dog Piero give a unique yet coherent spirit to the whole collection. The main texture is knit, explored in all its shapes and forms, often layered with roll-turtle neck and oversized cardigans and dresses. The outfits are often accompanied by fake furs stoles in powdered violet, sometimes in a bi-material version paired with tartan prints. The traditional scarf is reinterpreted in a round knitted version falling on shoulders and made of a various knitted and colorful flowers. Long pleated skirts in metallic textured are paired with chunky flat boots, another allusion to the Russian rural atmosphere in the past century. Headbands accompany the whole and are made of the same print as the main piece of the outfit: sometimes in tartan, sometimes in flowered or geometrical patterns.
