JACK PIERSON AT GALERIE THADDAEUS ROPAC

By Crash redaction

In this 6th solo exhibition, the American artist Jack Pierson continues his experiments into the wealth of mental associations, markedly with his sculptures made of found commercial signage as well as his drawings and paintings.

Under the snow, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris announces a monographic exhibition « Ennui (life goes on)  » by Jack Pierson. For this exhibition, Pierson continues his reflection, on the profound questioning of Western culture through short phrases such as « Romance », « The World is Yours », « Fame »…
In a global approach, his work focuses on the origin of Greek philosophy. After his show “The End of the World” at Regen Projects’s, Los Angeles, in 2013, Pierson has been known for his research on the mental aspect. Far from simply seeking to create traditional variations on the American Dream, the artist searchs to express what he calls “the tragedy inherent in the pursuit of glamour”.

Works by Jack Pierson feature in main collections worldwide, including LACMA and MoCA,  Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Guggenheim in New York.

Until 6th Apr. 2013 at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac
