This new chapter shows how Gabrielle Chanel created the CHANEL jacket. Considering the clothing style of the 50s too restrictive and poorly adapted to the time, she imposed a casual elegant tailor, masculine-feminine.Designed for free and active working women for the day like the evening, bringing comfort and functionality. With the CHANEL tailor, appeared the timeless tweed jacket. A jacket like no other: straight, structured, closed edge to edge. As the tweed becomes an iconic material, Gabrielle Chanel develops technical tricks whereas the jacket becomes a second skin, a single garment.

The jacket, constantly revisited by Karl Lagerfeld in his collections since 1983, has now a unique place in the global fashion wardrobe: the essence of luxury.

In 2012, Karl Lagerfeld highlights the iconic jacket in a book of photographies with more than one hundred international celebrities wearing the CHANEL jacket. Photographies from the book were exhibited in Tokyo, New York, London, Paris and Berlin to name a few, and a new exhibition will take place very soon in Milan and Dubai.
