MASTER PIECES AT LA BIENNALE PARIS

Formerly known as the Biennale des Antiquaires, the first edition of La Biennale Paris proclaimed its “renewal” with a new name praising its prestigious history in Paris. Still in its initial running-in period, with its particularly “high standards of quality” and need for “transparency”, the fair is still refining its reorganization. The search for “independence”, “neutrality” and “competence” by the works Admission Committee in charged with the “vetting” process of pieces is of prime importance indeed after previous fake scandals. For this edition, the selection of the exhibited master pieces was narrowed down. Among the many exceptional pieces that will be exhibited until September 16th, let’s mention, for the first time at the biennial, the contemporary jewelry by Taiwan-born Anna Hu featuring magnificent pieces celebrating Chinese mythology, created using French jewelry-making techniques. The high jewelry bangle made of diamonds, rubies and sapphires was created for Cindy Sherman who wanted a special jewelry to wear at night… It can be admired along a few stunning pieces created over the last decade by the jewelry designer who gained entry in the world of exclusive jewelry houses. Another unexpected brilliant artwork is the geometric and abstract set of five stained glass and concrete beautifully illustrating the wide range of creative possibilities of the know-how of stained glass. In 1965, it was made by Jacques, in the capital of stained glass at Chartres, in ateliers belonging to a family of three generations, whose work can be found on all continents. It is presented by Galerie Yves Gastou specialized in 20th century decorative arts. Last, let’s mention the painting by Gerhard Richter at Galerie Von Vertes specialized in modern and contemporary art that is exhibiting the most expensive artwork at the biennial. Last but not least, a selection of artworks from the exceptional Barbier-Muller Collections is a must-see.
