STARTING A JOURNEY AT LOUIS VUITTON A/W 2018 – A VISION BY FRANK PERRIN

By Crash redaction

For his last collection at Louis Vuitton, creative director Kim Jones decided to focus on the notion of journey, a constant travel through breathtaking landscapes. From hiking to climbing, the aim was to create a practical luxury aesthetic where sportswear meets elegance.

The key element was the landscapes and rocks prints from photographs of Kenya taken in a helicopter. This print was visible on jackets, leggings and shorts and deeply influenced the main colors of the collections. Think Earth tones, rusty hues and beige. Workwear was also quite present in the multitude of pockets and the touches of neon orange and yellow, following the climbing look. The Louis Vuitton man was definitely a daredevil who seemed to defy the four elements.

The surprise came at the end of the show when the two icons Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss stepped out on the runway wearing nothing but a Louis Vuitton trench coat. The icing on the cake.
