REPORT BOOK OF THE WEEK A SPORTING LIFE BY JACQUES HENRI LARTIGUE

Hermès and Actes Sud continue their joint publishing  venture with a new beautiful book entitled « A Sporting Life »  with amazing pictures by photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue who became an accomplished sportsmen himself and managed to capture wonderful images through a sporting lens during the first three decades of the 20th century. The photographs highlights different themes: the sportsman, life in the great outdoors, training, sport and family life, and the advent of sports entertainment. Texts of the historian Thierry Terret apply to reveal the richness of Lartigue’s unique approach as a photographer. Moreover, novelist Anne-Marie Garat who was largely influenced by her family photography background, was invited to write the preface enlightening us on the role sports has played in photography.
