A FIRST DIALOGUE AT PRADA S/S 2021

By Crash

It was definitely the collection every fashion enthusiast was waiting for this season, the unprecedented collaboration between two icons: Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, designing hand in hand for Prada Spring/Summer 2021. The news broke just before COVID-19 shuffled the cards in a way that shook the luxury industry and forced it to reconsider its ways of functioning. It’s clear that all the designers have been creating with mixed emotions, fear, anxiety, asking themselves what actually matters in a world where gaping holes threaten to swallow us one by one if we don’t change our ways of living.

This first Prada collection designed in collaboration was as strong as we could have hoped for, displaying a crisp uniform and blending elements from both the designers’ careers. Straight-leg pants with matching long sleeveless tunic shirts were the staple, around witch gravitated statement pieces like oversized clutch coats, XXL printed hoodies and layered stretchy turtlenecks covered in holes – quite reminiscent of Raf Simons’ work at Calvin Klein.
