MEDEA’S SURREALIST « MEDEALAND »

By Crash redaction

More than a bag brand, Medea is a witty window into a world that bridges community and craft, the digital and the physical. « Medealand » is a creative collaboration bringing Medea’s Fall/ Winter 2022 collection to life with a 40-page special edition of Toiletpaper magazine, a  biannual publication founded by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari; it captures Medea’s uniquely irony-laced luxury in print, with surrealist desertscapes featuring a bag-sniffing bird, shattered glass and spilt milk among Fall/ Winter 2022’s handbags. The Fall/ Winter 2022 collection sees Medea’s signature geometric styles—the striking, box-like Hanna and Short—joined and softened by the introduction of three new shapes. The « Sils, » named after Switzerland’s Sils Maria idyll, is a collapsible, claspless closure style crafted of super soft leather; sumptuous, squeezable, and available in three sizes, each with bold hook hardware. Joining it is the punchy, playful « Bucket, » with its colorful clash of acidic satin and vivid leather, and the Charlie, a silken shoulder bag with contrasting eco-leather lining and supersized side pockets. The season’s attention-grabbing bags fuse Medea’s striking simplicity with material innovation. Discover the images from the collaboration below.
