Tekla releases a limited-edition collection of mohair blankets in partnership with Les Couleurs Suisse AG.  Soft to the touch, chunky, and finished with a fringed edge, the handwoven blankets are signed with a unique number marking the limited collection. 

Inspired by Le Corbusier’s unorthodox approach to color the blankets come in four colorways chosen for their contemporary feel.  

“Le Corbusier’s legacy has always been an inspiration for Tekla – he’s one of the most influential architects, synonymous with modern architecture. In our research for this project, we also realized his incredible contribution to color.” Charlie Hedin, Founder and Creative Director at Tekla.

The collection takes inspiration from the architect’s Architectural Polychromy, comprising 63 color shades created across two palettes in 1931 and 1951. Le Corbusier used these colors as dynamic and emotive accents on building facades and interiors, noting that “colours affect our emotions and have a substantial impact on our mood.” 

As with Le Corbusier, color and its ability to change space are at the heart of Tekla.  Selecting “urmuster” (original colors) from Le Corbusier’s palettes, the Tekla design team worked with Les Couleurs Suisse AG’s color experts to translate them to textiles for the first time. 

“We were attracted to the colors in Le Corbusier’s creations, how they were so central to the design, and how he used them in his own life. Many of his spaces have a tempo and a movement that feel quite joyful. We wanted to capture this approach to color in the blanket design.” Christoffer Lundman, Senior Product Designer at Tekla.

Captured by Ola Rinda, the limited collection sits amongst the playful yet functional interiors of Le Corbusier Parisian Studio-Apartment.

This limited collection marks the start of a long-term partnership between Tekla and Les Couleurs Suisse AG.
