PRADA MODE AT TOKYO METROPOLITAN TEIEN ART MUSEUM

By Martina Conte

On May 12 and 13, Prada presented the ninth edition of Prada Mode in Tokyo, in association with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Teien Art Museum, one of Japan’s most important cultural institutions.

Museum director, architect and longtime Prada collaborator Kazuyo Sejima supported an authentic immersion in Japanese architecture and culture.
For two days, therefore, the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum became a space where guests could fully explore and delve into art in all its forms and discover works chosen for the occasion by Kazuyo Sejima. Once again Prada and its team demonstrated how the art-fashion-architecture interconnection is fundamental and of great importance to the Italian Maison.

Designed by Ryue Nishizawa, the main temporary pavilion, a curved wooden surface that framed the conversations, found its place in the European garden; different spaces were then created to allow visitors to fully explore and appreciate the entire location.

On the first day, or May 12, Prada inaugurated Prada Mode Tokyo with various activities including conversations and meetings, workshops, tea ceremony, musical performances and installations, a private dinner in honor of Kazuyo Sejima, and a party.
On May 13, Prada Mode Tokyo presented several more talks and musical and artistic performances. Not to be missed were the inclusive activities for children focused on nature and its potential.

Prada Mode Tokyo’s music program was curated by CRAIG RICHARDS and KUNICHI NOMURA.
