BEVZA SS24

By Roisin Breen

Established in Ukraine in 2006, Bevza is an independent womenswear label currently operating out of London. Driven by a desire to offer women a wardrobe that would allow them to buy less, choose wiser, high quality pieces, that might be minimal, but far from boring.

Exquisite cuts nod to exceptional pattern-making, in form flattering, quirky cuts that hone founder and creative director Svitlana Bevza’s sense of humor and impeccable sense of personal style. Sharp tailoring and slick silhouettes dominate the collection, stand out pieces include layered translucent dresses over stunning floral printed dresses. Coined “The White Dress” concept it builds on the idea of the light energy behind it.

Inspired by her home country and its traditions, she takes an opportunity each collection to bing a traditional Ukrainian motif to her audiences, updating it and modernizing it for the now. Including nods to traditional Ukrainian crochet, ethnic symbols and cultural codes. Note the red Ukrainian poppy emblem emblazoned on dresses, or earrings and brooches cleverly worked into the form of a wheat bud.

Consistently taking an eco-responsable approach to her work, the zero-waste policy gives way to cutesy quirks and trims, and dead stock fabrics and recycled yarns means pieces are unique and limited. Bevza handworks are created by Ukrainian artisans in order to revive unique Ukrainian craftsmanship techniques.
