PRADA FRAMES 2024 EXPLORES « BEING HOME » IN MILAN

By Aicha NDIAYE

Prada Frames, the annual multidisciplinary symposium held alongside Milan’s Salone del Mobile, returns for its third edition in 2024. This year’s program, entitled « Being Home, » delves into the intricate relationship between the natural environment and design, addressing contemporary challenges within the context of the living environment.

Founded as a platform for collective exploration and idea-sharing, Prada Frames adopts a scientific yet educational approach to its discussions. « Being Home » focuses on redefining the notion of home, viewing it not only as a source of comfort but also as a shelter and infrastructure of services. This dynamic space continuously evolves, shaping community dynamics.

Curated by the renowned design and research studio Formafantasma, the symposium features contributions from a diverse range of scholars and professionals. Among the esteemed lineup are Paola Antonelli, Brigitte Baptiste, Kate Crawford, Jack Halberstam, OFFICE Kersten Geers, David Van Severen, Anna Puigjaner, Alice Rawsthorn, Isabella Rossellini, and Françoise Vergès.

The extensive program unfolds from April 14th through April 16th, 2024 at the historic Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan. This nineteenth-century neo-Renaissance house museum, adorned with fifteenth and sixteenth-century objects and furniture, serves as a fitting backdrop for discussions on contemporary design. It embodies a unique blend of personal and art history, showcasing early expressions of Milanese design.

During the symposium, the museum will host intimate conversations and thematic lectures across its various spaces, including the living room, bedroom, dining room, bathroom, and library. This setup fosters an uninterrupted exchange of information, enhancing the immersive experience for attendees.

This inclusive approach reflects Prada’s commitment to fostering dialogue and innovation within the realm of design and environmental sustainability.

Prada Frames 2024 promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of the concept of home, offering insights into the ways in which design intersects with our everyday lives and the broader natural environment.

Admission to Prada Frames « Being Home » is complimentary, subject to availability, and requires registration at www.prada.com starting from April 9th.
