IMANE AYISSI PRESENT THEIR FALL-WINTER ’24 COUTURE SHOW

By Chloe Edstein

Imane Ayissi’s fall-winter ’24 couture collection pushes the boundaries with its innovative silhouettes, rich textures, and vibrant colour palette.

The show begins with a dramatic black draped ensemble and a mask that conceals the entire body, setting a tone of surprise for the audience. Each subsequent look continues to astonish. From block neutrals and geometric forms to delicate patterns on fluid garments, each piece moves gracefully. A striking hot pink adds bursts of colour throughout the collection, starting with a dress adorned with brown sequined details and extended cap sleeves, paired with matching shoes and gloves. Squiggly motifs appear frequently, notably in blue on a kimono-style bomber dress.

Midway through the collection, we see similar elongated silhouettes in black, now featuring voluminous dresses tied in bows, softened by patterns. The use of texture expands as Ayissi incorporates fringe, particularly evident in four standout looks in various block colors. The first is a mauve pink dress with cross-directional fringe layers and an exaggerated shoulder; the second, a sophisticated black two-piece suit with fringe cape sleeves; the third, a light brown fringe round jacket paired with powder yellow gloves and tarnished gold pants; and finally, a bold red ensemble with a triple neckline and fringe hanging from the hip. Fringe elements reappear at the end of the collection in three elegant night outfits.

The finale features a cream satin ensemble with structured pants, a classic bodice, a traditional cape neckline, and elegant gloves.

This collection reimagines tradition, embracing it fully while transforming it.
