Showcasing their newest collection for Spring-Summer 2025, Laquan Smith delivered a fresh angle to their distinguished bold, glamorous feminine sensuality. Through the use of sheer textiles, a lighter perspective with an airy essence was at the core of the collection. Known for their use of leather and buckles, in replacement were lace and mesh with softly tied ribbons. True to their identity, however, were low v-neck dresses, mini-skirt ensembles, catsuits paired with a fur coat, and low-waisted baggy pants. 

In the designer’s notes for the show, he stated, “The collection was initially inspired by the sensuality, lightness and opacity of sheer textiles.” A balance was established in the collection, using varying elements of feminine sexuality. Considering past collections, Smith’s designs have a strong relation and essence to NYC nightlife, while this collection effortlessly offers a daytime alternative that is equally empowering and bold – with some looks offering a seamless blend of the two. 

In an exclusive partnership with Laquan Smith – for the third season – was Italian luxury footwear brand Giuseppe Zanotti. Together six custom shoes were created for the collection and were sported by models down the runway. Additionally, the hair was keyed by artist Lurissa Lawson courtesy of Camille Rose, who styled the models in sleek ponytails and buns, blunt bob cuts, side-part updos, short-styled afros and large curly styles. In charge of the slick, cat-eye makeup with hints of rose pink and pale blue was international artist, Sheika Daley, courtesy of Lancome. Furthermore, through a special partnership, Samsung Galaxy came together with the brand to create a series of sleepwear sets that debuted on the runway. The looks were inspired by the innovative sleep insights offered in Samsung’s new Galaxy Ring – used to create four looks that are now  available to shop. 

This collection further establishes Laquan Smith as a New York Fashion Week favourite, highlighting his abilities and understanding of elements that exist in female sensuality and glamour. His efforts to empower black designers and consistently open more doors through collaborations and mentorship programs display his commitment to paving the way for designers like himself and is sure to leave a lasting legacy for himself and his brand.
