COMME DES GARÇONS SPRING/SUMMER 2025 COLLECTION

By Max Mendel

Comme des Garçons’ Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Uncertain Future, explores fragility and resilience through air and transparency, symbolizing both vulnerability and hope in today’s fractured world. Rei Kawakubo opened with rigid white looks, their monumental forms resembling fiberglass sculptures. These architectural pieces, with Doric ridges, transformed into quilted silk jacquards with oversized sleeves, merging historical and futuristic silhouettes.

Billowing puffer gowns, oversized long sleeves, and sculptural designs evoked protection and entrapment. Geometrical headpieces by Takuto Kadokura inspired by his exhibition: 22nd Century Jedi crowned the looks, adding a futuristic tone. Metal mesh structures and fabric-layered garments hinted at restriction, with glimpses of protest slogans adding a political edge.

Footwear collaborations included the Comme des Garçons x Salomon Mary Jane Platform, bringing a utilitarian feel, and the Comme des Garçons x Phileo collection, introducing three white shoe styles—boots, derbies, and Mary Janes (the latter not shown).

With « Uncertain Future », Comme des Garçons presents a profound meditation on fragility and strength, challenging fashion’s boundaries while offering hope amid uncertainty.
