Chanel Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection, returned to the Grand Palais, marking a reunion between the house and the iconic Parisian venue. Beneath the glass roof of the Nave, the show unfolded like a choreographed flight of freedom and lightness, symbolized by the central motif: a monumental birdcage, evoking Gabrielle Chanel’s personal mementos. The birdcage also alluded to the famous Coco perfume ad by Jean-Paul Goude, featuring Vanessa Paradis, where she appeared as a bird inside a gilded cage. This aviary-inspired setting provided a dreamlike backdrop for the collection, which spoke to movement, liberation, and transformation.

The collection played with house codes, reinterpreting classic elements in fresh ways. Brightly coloured tweed sets, inspired by the 1990s collections by Karl Lagerfeld, make a bold return. These were modernized with playful feather embellishments and paired with sequinned and fringed jeans, offering a fresh take on classic elegance. Signature Chanel tweeds appeared in total looks of pink, blue, and pastel tones, infused with an air of youthful exuberance and casual ease.

Flowing chiffon capes, transparent shirt dresses, and wide-cut trousers embodied the lightness of the collection. Aviator jackets, flight suits, and trench coats adorned with multicolored feather prints nodded to the pioneering aviatrixes of the past, while also evoking the spirit of freedom and defiance that Gabrielle Chanel championed. The iconic suit and little black dress were reinterpreted with a modern edge, while quilted bags and two-tone shoes anchored the collection in the timeless Chanel tradition.

Through this collection, Chanel celebrates women who have flown free of societal constraints, paying homage to figures like Colette and the trailblazing women of the early 20th century. It’s a collection that takes flight under the sky of the Grand Palais, capturing the delicate balance between the timeless and the contemporary.
