WEEKEND IN YEREVAN

By Alain Berland

After Warsaw, Kyiv, Budapest, Belgrade, Sofia, a special edition in support of Ukraine, Odessa, and last year Tbilisi, « Un Week-end à l’Est » heads to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, for its 8th edition.

Launched in 2016 by Vera Michalski and Brigitte Bouchard, « Un Week-end à l’Est » is a cultural and multidisciplinary event held over six days in November in Paris. Each year, a city from Central or Eastern Europe is highlighted through its writers, filmmakers, thinkers, and artists.

Meetings and debates, exhibitions, concerts, screenings around thirty events are organized in emblematic locations of the Latin Quarter, as well as at the Maison de la Poésie, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and the Gaité Lyrique, offering participants privileged spaces for exchange and dialogue, and providing the French public with a unique opportunity to appreciate the vibrant creativity of Eastern European countries.

For the visual arts, curators Alain Berland and Varduhi Kirakosyan bring together, in five exhibition spaces, nearly twenty-five multidisciplinary artists who, while evoking issues closely related to Armenia’s political and social context, manage to celebrate multiculturalism by creating dialogues between cultures, artistic practices, mediums, and histories.

« Un Week-end à l’Est »: From November 20th to 30th, 2024 in Paris.

Opening on November 21st, 2024  at Galerie 22 Visconti, 75006 Paris.
