LOUIS VUITTON SS17: ON THE RUNWAY

The Louis Vuitton show was a perfectly controlled boldness. Settled on Place Vendôme, in the future Louis Vuitton home, the runway was raw, pared-down, in the heart of the venue still in renovation. A raw space welcoming very sophisticated silhouettes. Nicolas Ghesquière underlines : « It is interesting to catch the essence of this place in a completely raw moment and understand the purity of its atmosphere. An incredible space bared in this amazing classical building. I like this contrast ». This pure and naked setting was a great way to highlight the beautiful silhouettes imagined by the designer. His play on deconstructed tailoring is strikingly powerful, at the image of this green jacket with a massive diagonal cut-out on the front, which is paired with tight trousers. A selection of bias-cut dresses open the show, and the collection takes a more graphic turn as overall asymmetrical silhouettes are revealed. Bustier dresses give that strong woman vibe Ghesquière loves most, while the final sparkling sheer gowns embody the perfect balance between pure femininity and modern toughness.
