ACNE STUDIOS SPRING/SUMMER 2025 COLLECTION: STRENGTH IN VULNERABILITY

By Max Mendel

Acne Studios unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 collection in a stark white room, featuring vibrant sculptures crafted by Philadelphia-based artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase from repurposed household objects. The installation, centred around themes of « comfortability and vulnerability, » echoed the collection’s essence of living unapologetically in one’s space.
Creative Director Jonny Johansson reimagined domesticity with a surreal twist, blending familiar home elements with fashion. The collection opened with a minimalist, skin-toned ensemble that spoke to the fragility of bareness before evolving into voluminous, doll-like silhouettes. Oversized tailoring and puffy waistlines created an exaggerated sense of form, while reptilian-embossed suits and inflated jeans captured the collection’s playful yet distorted vision.

Sculpted leather sets, raw-cut and structured, brought a polished edge to the whimsical styling. Chunky knits, wide checks, and asymmetrical draping added a feeling of spontaneity, evoking the concept of dressing in haste or playfully rummaging through a wardrobe. Knotted scraps and distressed wool further reinforced the theme of strength found in imperfection.

The exaggerated proportions, paper-doll-like aesthetics, and bold, twisted fabrics conveyed a sense of childlike wonder and domestic intimacy, bridging the gap between private spaces and the outside world. With on-trend colours and exquisite textures, the Acne Studios’ Spring/Summer collection invites a deep exploration of vulnerability as a form of strength.
