By Crash redaction

Art Basel, staring today though Sunday, is collaborating on a cultural program with Basel institutions in support of Ukraine, donating more than 100,000 CHF to humanitarian aid organizations. Coinciding with the 2022 edition of Art Basel, the city of Basel will be welcoming eleven large scale photographic works by Ukrainian artist Boris Mikhailov, displayed prominently across the facades and entrances of cultural institutions in Basel, including a 6x9 meter print on the side façade of Hall 5 on Messeplatz. The three humanitarian aid organizations that will be receiving the donation in support of victims of the war on Ukraine: The Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund, EAST SOS and Artists at Risk. Art Basel also supported the performance of Russian punk collective Pussy Riot which took place at Basel’s Kaserne, on June 14, coinciding with the opening day of Art Basel.
