ATRA – MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2024

By Crash redaction

On the occasion of the Milan design Week, Atra presents for the first time in Europe, its holistic universe with a dedicated pavilion where its emblematic pieces are exhibited.

Founded in 2014 by Alexander Diaz Andersson, Atra stands as a furniture publishing house based in Mexico, intertwined with an architecture and design studio. Atra’s philosophy revolves around the fusion of futuristic design concepts with traditional woodcraft techniques. Their creations prioritize sensory appeal over fleeting trends, embodying a modernist perspective that resonates with discerning clientele seeking quality, comfort, and the distinctive character of craftsmanship.

In 2019,  the furniture publisher brand made a significant mark with a successful exhibition at Design Miami/Basel, signaling its transition beyond design into architectural projects worldwide. In 2021, for its second participation at Design Miami, Atra introduced « ATRA 2100, » a visionary concept challenging conventional design perspectives. This avant-garde approach underscores the brand’s commitment to crafting objects and architecture intended to endure beyond ephemeral trends.

In Milan, the brand showcases a dedicated space to present its Morphus chair while an immersive area will offer visitors a multisensory experience. This space will explore the connection between design and well-being technologies, featuring low-level vibration experiences synchronized with the body’s rhythms and Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Fields (PEMF) that stimulate blood flow, reduce inflammation, and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Atra-designed light therapy glasses utilizing Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) will accompany the experience.

Visitors are invited to choose from 80 unique journeys, each utilizing tailored frequencies and unique vibratory content, such as guided meditations, sound healing, ambient soundscapes, and breathwork sessions.

The brand’s interest in innovation and artistic expression is reflected in its thorough exploration of materials and reinterpretation of traditional methods through the adoption of unconventional processes.
