AUDEMARS PIGUET AND ART BASEL EXTEND THEIR PARTNERSHIP

Audemars Piguet has announced the extension of its partnership with Art Basel, the largest modern and contemporary art fair in the world. Indeed, Audemars Piguet continues to support Art Basel as an associate partner in the framework of its three annual editions in Hong Kong, Basel and Miami. Thereby, the Swiss brand demonstrates its interest and its support to creativity, innovation and artists. Since 2013, the brand has invited many designers and artists to interpret its identity. In 2015, it has launched an annual Art Commission, getting directly involved in the sphere of contemporary art in the world. « We are very happy to have witnessed the birth of its Commission of art, whose first work was unveiled at Art Basel Basel earlier this year, and look forward to organizing the next editions of Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong under such auspices, » said Marc Spiegler, international director of Art Basel. During their three years of partnership, Audemars Piguet and Art Basel have worked in 2013 with the the French artist duo Kolkoz for the Perrotin gallery to create Curiosity, an inflatable giant Swiss chalet, and in 2014 with Theo Jansen for the Peabody Essex Museum to present Strandbeest, sculptures in the style of giant animals that move on the beaches through the sheer force of the wind. For the edition of Basel this year, the artist and Swiss composer Robin Meier has developed, with the help of Marc-Olivier Wahler, guest curator, a giant installation named Synchronicity. The masterpiece focuses on the principles of natural order, and explores the concepts of complexity and harmony that include fireflies flashing in unison. Future annual commissions continue to explore technology related topics by providing artists the resources and expertise necessary for the performance of their works. « We are proud of our status as Associate Partner of Art Basel and the authentic relationship that unites us.
