AWARE ,IN COLLABORATION WITH ZAMÂN BOOKS & CURATING, PRESENTS: SUR UN FIL: OUBLIER « L’ART CONTEMPORAIN IRANIEN »

By Crash redaction

On Friday February 17th, the association AWAREArchives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, in collaboration with Zamân Books & Curating, hosts a meeting dedicated to Iranian artists Bahar Majdzadeh, Neda Razavipour and Golnaz Payani.
Majdzadeh, Razavipour and Payani are three multidisciplinary artists who began their careers in Iran. Their artistic practices range from sculpture to performance with the peculiarity of not belonging to a specific place, but rather being able to diverge, undergoing continuous metamorphosis. In the artworks of Neda and Golnaz, the body becomes the protagonist in a formal and hypothetical way. Distinctly, in Bahar Majdzadeh’s work, the central role is occupied by memory, and the rhetoric behind it. The meeting organized at the Villa Vassilieff will address these issues that find ample space in today’s contemporary art scene.

Golnaz PayaniGolnaz Payani was born in Tehran in 1986. She graduated  at the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Tehran, she pursued a full course of study at the School of Art in Clermont-Ferrand where she obtained the National Diploma of Plastic Arts in 2010 and the National Higher Diploma of Plastic Expression in 2013. She has been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions since 2011.
She develops an open practice where various mediums are solicited: film, video, works on fabrics, installation, ceramics, poetry. She is represented by the Gallery Praz-Delavallade, Paris/Los Angeles.

Neda Razavipour was born in 1969 in Iran. She studied at the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne and  she also studied art as a practice of space, stage and installation at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris. She uses different media and focuses her art practice very much on the reality of today’s society and her personal life. She is represented by Ab-Anbar Gallery, London.

Bahar Majdzadeh is an artist-researcher. Her recent projects combine experimental writing and plastic creation, but also cartographic and sound devices. The themes on which she focuses her research are varied, but she is very devoted to political issues and the social representations of urban spaces.
