AZZARO COUTURE S/S 2021 BY OLIVIER THEYSKENS

By Crash redaction

The very much awaited first Azzaro Couture collection by Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens is finally here and doesn’t disappoint. Through a play of reflections and shimmering materials, he is renewing the spirit of the Azzaro House, bringing together men and women in a spirit of glamour and pure sophistication.

Borrowing from the spirit of freedom and sensual glamour of the house’s founding years, the Couture creations highlight understated and fluid lines punctuated by sparkling crystals with silvery reflections. The silhouette is timeless in a subtle balance oscillating between classic shapes and otherworldly sophistication.

Sequins sprinkled on the shoulders of men’s suits evoke by their shine the drops left by the rain, while an armature of tiny metallic scales covers a structured suit with silver. The bust of a long black basque dress sparkles with ripples of dark crystals like a stream of droplets. Tactile materials such as silk or lurex velvet give draped dresses or oversized suits a carnal spirit. Fitted jacquard patterned coat dresses are embroidered with platinum chip interlacing. The sequin, dear to Loris Azzaro, is deployed on oversized jumpsuits or on indented dresses with asymmetrical cuts that hug the curves of the body.
