BACKSTAGE AT ATXI SS25 « EGOITZA » IN BIARRITZ
By Iris JEANSON
Atxi honors his grandmother’s 1971 tannery in Espelette and his grandfather’s Basque nickname, “aitatxi.” The brand features a complete wardrobe made from exceptional natural materials like leather and silk. The show marked a homecoming for Atxi, highlighting its local heritage through designs inspired by ocean blue and vibrant Basque red, as well as the colors of the local rugby team, Aviron Bayonnais.
Guillaume Hiriart Carriat, Atxi’s artistic director and founder, described the collection as a return to the brand’s roots: “Atxi with its nonchalant chic, is a charming air but with a perfectly tied knot. The trousers always break on the shoe but allow for extravagance. The materials are rounded and the silhouettes elegant. The characteristic paradox of La Grande Plage between the “fancy” bourgeoisie and the “cool” surfer. »
Central to the collection is the scarf, presented in multiple forms, symbolizing the Basque region. The « Egoitza » collection blends traditional Basque elements with contemporary fashion, capturing the unique spirit of Biarritz. Atxi’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection « Egoitza » is poised to make waves in the fashion industry, just as it did on the shores of Biarritz.
