BACKSTAGE AT CHRISTINE PHUNG FALL-WINTER 2015 PARIS
By Crash redaction
We kick off this Fall-Winter 2015-16 season in Paris with one of the first shows of the Paris Fashion Week schedule: Christine Phung. After creating her own brand in 2011 following successful experiences at See by Chloé, Vanessa Bruno, Christophe Lemaire or Lacoste, Christine Phung fully gained recognition when she won the « Grand Prix de la Création de la ville de Paris » as well as the ANDAM award in the « first collections » category in 2013. Yesterday, her collection was called « Glitchologie », and the very anticipated show took place on the ninth floor of Paris Institut du Monde Arabe. The collection showed a fine balance between architectural pieces and fluid garments. As she explains, « the woman I dress is an explorer », and her Fall-Winter 2015-16 collection was the proof of that. The collection felt futuristic, though very in phase with women’s needs. Mainly black and grey, the garments were enhanced by a purple-dominant print that gave the impression to be an aurora borealis. Wet, almost messy hair dialogued with a strong sense of accessorizing, with incredible goddess-like earrings and fingertips painted in white. All in all, a very powerful show and a perfect way to start the week.
