BACKSTAGE AT IRIS VAN HERPEN FALL-WINTER 2015 PARIS
By Crash redaction
Iris Van Herpen presented her Fall-Winter 2015 collection on Tuesday, March 10th at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Themed « Hacking Infinity », the collection explored the possibilities of terraforming, which consists in recreating our biosphere in another planet and conveys this idea of infinity. For this collection, the circle came to be the foundation shape, which geometry guided the rest of the silhouettes. This season, Van Herpen went for lighter materials and pleated fabrics that reflected the prism of colors. Once again, Iris Van Herpen was all about three-dimensionality, while she continues her research on 3D hand woven textile with designer Aleksandra Gaca. Alongside digitally fabricated dresses, the shoes were probably a collection stand-out: Created in collaboration with Japanese designer Noritaka tatehana, they were made of 3D printed crystals and laser-cut leather. As always, Van Herpen takes us into the future of fashion.
