J.W.ANDERSON AW16: A BACKSTAGE STORY

The J.W.Anderson collections always are one of the most awaited during London Fashion Week. This season was no exception, and the designer had already brought attention to his collection when announcing his partnership with social media platform Grindr on an exclusive livestream collaboration on the app. A rather pioneering approach for a fashion House, but Anderson already accustomed us to his unique vision of fashion – whether with the clothes or with his way of presenting them. This collection has a rather animalistic feel to it, yet always in a gentle way: a snail print (present on fluid jackets, furry coats, and as a pattern on a black shirt) seems to be the common thread, as cartoonish all-over prints make appearances on sheer tops and trousers. While technical fabrics speak a big deal, notably in shades of silver, the finishing touch is brought by plexiglas chokers sported by the models. Once again, Jonathan Anderson is ahead of his time.
