JW ANDERSON SS17: A BACKSTAGE STORY
Jonathan Anderson is a fearless designer in the sense that he doesn’t settle for what could only be expected from him. With every show, he manages to gather a great load of influences that infuse his collections with such an artistic yet highly desirable point of view. His multi-referential, playful approach has made his eponymous label one of the top London-based houses. This season again, Jonathan Anderson didn’t fail to please his audience and presented bold silhouettes that were eclectic and detailed. Not afraid of volume, the designer showed rigid bomber jackets with deconstructed sleeves that recreated the shapes of ruffles. He also played with textures, alternating between the fluidity of ambré dresses and the toughness of the jackets, sometimes with an asymmetrical spirit. It’s difficult to summarize Anderson’s inspirations, still his silhouettes are always thought and designed with the most refined eye. Finally, a series of jewelry (mostly earrings) added to the refinement, and merged perfectly with the collection.
