THE GLOBAL TRAVELER: A KENZO SS16 BACKSTAGE STORY
The Kenzo girl likes to move, explore, and experience. This season, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim deliver a collection that perfectly represents the spirit of exploration. The show opened with a cropped tank top worn with a under-the-knee skirt, both in a juxtaposition of colors and patterns from marble to sand and a diagonal white lining that creates a graphic vision. The big, golden earrings and necklaces seem to be mementos of their last destination, exotic and luxurious. The slicked back hair give the girls a nautic look as deep blues appear on the runway. Lazer-cut body-conscious tops are paired with sand-colored miniskirts buttoned on the front. White thigh boots have an exaggerated shape and are lazer-cut in several squares. White swimsuits worn under printed vests with geometrical prints create a dazzling effect, while black and white geometrical lines make the rich colors pop. With Kenzo, there is always a sense of utility: the models wear pouches at their waist, attached to their mini dresses an kimono-inspired coats. As for trousers, they are relaxed and wide-cut and flow with each movement. This season again, Kenzo embodies the art of travelling in style.
