BACKSTAGE AT KIDILL PFW FALL/WINTER24
By Iris Jeanson
In a heartfelt homage to the late Jamie Reid, the iconic artist behind Sex Pistols’ covers, Kidill’s Men’s Collection for Fall/Winter 2024 stole the spotlight at Paris Fashion Week. Artistic Director Hiroaki Sueyasu spoke of Reid’s profound influence, describing him as the starting point of his creative journey.
Sueyasu’s collection challenges the risk of iconic styles becoming mere reproductions. Embracing the positive energy of contemporary influences, the Fall/Winter 2024 line celebrates the essence of punk. With DIY-inspired details and Japanese artisan craftsmanship, the designs fuse early punk classicism with a modern edge.
The message goes beyond fashion, delving into the history of punk. Sueyasu asserts that punk’s rebellious spirit has evolved into a cultural force, influencing independence and individual expression. The collection marks a return to punk’s roots, signifying the rebirth of Kidill.
« As a matter of fact, my initial impulse and resistance remain the same. I am just simple, » Sueyasu declares, encapsulating the enduring spirit of punk. Kidill’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection is a timeless tribute to the legacy of punk, reminding us that the spirit of rebellion is eternally relevant.
