BACKSTAGE AT MARCO DE VINCENZO A/W 2020
By Crash
Like children’s drawings, the proportions are subjective. Objects or people are portrayed without thinking how they really are. The proportions of things are radically altered. They are enlarged and reduced as desired. An explosion of shapes dictates new rules. The brooch on sweaters is so oversized that it is no longer a detail, but the protagonist. Garments and accessories look as if they were enlarged by a photocopier. Shoes have stiletto heels that are 200 percent larger, and the result is a play of almost cartoon-like curved and ample lines. The stitches of knits are huge, almost exploded. So is the stitching on jackets and skirts. Baby-doll micro-coats and oversized sweaters: everything is out of proportion.
