BACKSTAGE AT PEET DULLAERT COUTURE FALL-WINTER ’24 FASHION SHOW

By Chloe Edstein

Peet Dullaert presented yesterday, his Couture Fall-Winter 24 Fashion show at the historic Hôtel d’Evreux in Paris. Dullaert’s philosophy revolves around creating clothes that complement the body’s natural form rather than constricting it. This vision was brought to life in a collection featuring structured jackets, intricate knits, and flattering dresses.

Among the standout pieces were a beaded black dress with a blazer-like neckline, a form-fitting vest with distinctive shoulder details, and a yellow silk column dress that, upon closer inspection, revealed a corseted back, seemingly wrapped haphazardly but with meticulous intent.

Dullaert’s dedication to comfort was evident in his choice of materials. He advocated for Tencel Luxe, a fabric he considers both beautiful and sustainable.

The collection showcased a myriad of human silhouettes, each meticulously shaped and sewn by hand, inspired by the diverse group of people around Dullaert. This dedication to inclusivity and personal expression was evident in every piece, reflecting the designer’s vision of a harmonious blend of style and comfort.

The casting choices for the show reinforce the creative director’s commitment to inclusive couture. The runway featured a diverse array of models, including Danielle Slavik, a former Balenciaga house model, as well as friends of the house such as a dancer and a fashion consultant.

This collection celebrated individuality and self-expression, with garments designed to enhance the wearer’s unique style rather than imposing a specific narrative. The show was a testament to the idea that couture can be both beautiful and comfortable.
