GOLDEN PARADISE: SACAI SS16 COLLECTION
Fashion month is almost over, and they say the last is never the least. The saying can be applied to the Sacai SS16 collection, a whole lot of creativity with a rock’n’roll edge. The collection follows the inspiration of the previous menswear collection presented several weeks ago, which was the iconic New York club Paradise Garage, a dance club where people from every background met and mixed to party and experience together. The influence of mixing the elements is to be found on the clothes in the experimental approach of the shapes and the layering of patterns. There is also a play on transparency. Not in a naïve, over-feminine, too-revealing way, but in self-assured, forward-thinking manner. Cashmere prints on white and marine blue dresses give the impression they originally were big carré scarves that were draped on the body. Paired with black boots or mules, the silhouettes almost look like they come from a post-modern, fashion-forward western movie. At the end, gold makes an appearance on arabesques and transports the collection into the spheres of cerebral luxury.
