THOM BROWNE SS17: A BACKSTAGE STORY
There’s always a story to tell with clothing. Once again Thom Browne created a whole universe that defined his women’s spring-summer 2017 collection. Playing around with the aquatic theme (which already defined his menswear collection presented in Paris last June with white-faced surfers in scubasuits), the American designer staged an afternoon at the pool, his models wearing large swimming caps and vividly colorful, flower-printed robes, along with turquoise lips and fish-shaped goggles. Browne has quite a taste for a big reveal; in fact, he gave us two. Under the robes, the models were sporting shiny tunics showing jacket shapes in trompe-l’oeil, for such a playful result. Then finally, they all sat down by the pool, « sunbathing » in their red bathing suits. It hardly gets more exciting than a Thom Browne show.
