The art of Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture
Viktor & Rolf have always had their personal interpretation of Haute Couture. It is about making a statement by exploring their incredible, architectural craftsman skills combined with their endless creativity and their unique flair for an artistic performance. This season, the creative duo transformed their models into living canvas. Walking on an elevated stage set up in Paris Palais de Tokyo, the girls sported deconstructed canvas, voluminous paintings framed in their broken-down, golden frames. In front of the audience, the two designers successively undressed the models, taking the art from the runway to the big white wall behind them – where the shapes of the dresses found a new interpretation as alone-standing art pieces. What is so unique about Viktor & Rolf, is their ability to transport the audience into their concept, and into the story they want to tell. There is a connection that occurs, which goes far beyond the simple appreciation of clothes.
