BACKSTAGE AT WOOYOUNGMI SPRING-SUMMER 2016 PARIS
By Crash redaction
This season, Wooyoungmi Creative Directors Madame Woo and Katie Chung take us on a trip to the moon. The designers were inspired by the wardrobe of the man from the future preparing for his lunar voyage. It is a collection about possibilities, discoveries and emotion. Wooyoungmi puts its tailoring background in favor of highly utilitarian pieces, while luxurious fabrics give the collection its very sophisticated appearance. The play on textures is present throughout the entire collection with wrinkled coats, ruched trousers and quilted embroideries. As for colors, they perfectly express the space-inspired spirit of the collection: from taupe and beige to olive and navy, the color palette is warm with accents of silver here and there. The presentation was as magical and poetic as a trip to the moon: shown in the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, the models were walking around a big luminous inflatable moon and created their own special solar system.
