BACKSTAGE AT WOOYOUNGMI SPRING-SUMMER 2017 PARIS

WOOYOUNGMI SS17: A BACKSTAGE STORY

Wooyoungmi SS17 Paris. This season, Wooyoungmi designers Madame Woo and Katie Chung took inspiration from the graphic work of iconic New York artist Sol Lewitt. The defining feature of Wooyoungmi is to offer another vision of masculinity, a vision that identifies with a more delicate side and an always-present taste for the arts. For this spring-summer 2017 collection, black and white checks are a common thread and reference Lewitt’s wall drawings. Lines and curves meet to create vibrant patterns. The shapes are wide and layered, which nourish the romanticism the collection exudes. Adding to the overall softness, shirts are intentionally mis-buttoned, which creates a delicate cascade of fabric on the models chests, like an invitation to singularity.
