YOHJI YAMAMOTO FALL WINTER 2016: A BACKSTAGE STORY
Beauty lies in details. For his Fall-Winter 2016 collection, Yohji Yamamoto presented a series of black elongated silhouettes such as floor-lenghts overcoats with accentuated sleeves and asymmetrical blouses with button detailing. White appears in contrast to black on a tunic dress or a structured coat. Minimalism is key, but details such as buttons and splashes of paint on some of the last looks show Yamamoto’s incredible creativity. As for styling, the make-up was all about drama: the strong black lip is accentuated, and looks like it’d belong to an out-of-this-world geisha. The hair, pulled aside in a shiny, sleek lock, accentuates this Japanese-inspired aesthetic and adds an almost romantic side to the collection.
