YOHJI YAMAMOTO SS17 : A BACKSTAGE STORY
For his Spring-Summer 2017 collection, Yohji Yamamoto plays with black and white duality, minimalist pieces that bear unconventional cuts. A surprising, new element embodies the common thread of the collection: it is the black bandages that wrap around the models arms and chests. A sort of constriction of the body that both works a an artistic statement and an undeniable athletic inspiration. This season, Yohji Yamamoto’s pure vision meets a more sensual approach. Deconstructed dresses reveal parts of the body, and the silhouettes are often twisted with masculine codes. Transgressive but with a bit of felinity, the collection is as contemplative as it is detailed.
