BLUMARINE PRE FALL 23

By Roisin Breen

Nicola Brognano is bringing a bit of punk-rock to the Blumarine Pre-Fall 2023 collection. He sees his Blumarine woman as sexy, provocative, confident; her style is cool and individual, her personality is strong and she needs no validation. The collection brings together a palette of dark, cold colors, eschewing girly pastel hues in favor of black, grey, and military green, with confident accents of acidic green and saturated pink.

Fabrics come in dark denims, washed and overdyed with a dirty, worn-out effect, reminiscent of well-loved wardrobe companions. Skin-tight midriff-baring tops, multi-pocket midi skirts, low-slung flares with extra-long hems together with the best-selling oversized cargos, worn under small, midriff-baring, round-cut cropped bombers. She embraces the new trendy proposition of the season : the under-the-knee cropped cargos, puffy and low-slung, inspired by the famous Y2K knickerbockers. Rendered in overdyed velvet and denim, they’re a must-have.

Enveloping coats in furry wool offer a sensual level of protection; embellishments and embroideries are replaced by ruching peeking out from the seams of fitted denim shirts and trousers, or by trailing georgette ribbons on voluminous knitted jumpers. Accessories exude the same punk-rock vibe. Gladiators sandals have metallic stiletto heels and strings crossing around the leg; roomy shoulder bags in nappa leather come with cargo-style big pockets.
