CHANEL BECOMES A GRAND PATRON OF THE GRAND PALAIS

By Temoso Mohuba

Chanel is now a Grand Patron of the Grand Palais. This title was given to the house following its 5-year renewal as a patron. Prior to this, Chanel was an exclusive and historic patron since 2018. Through the artistic and cultural program,  the French luxury house is a key contributor to the Grand Palais’ endowment fund.

Despite the recent patronage, Chanel has had a longstanding relationship with the Grand Palais. For many years, the house used the museum as a setting for its fashion shows, transforming the space each show with other-worldly staging and design. Due to this relationship, Chanel pledged its support for the museum’s refurbishment and restoration project in 2018. In its 5-year renewal deal, Chanel has pledged 30 million euros in support of the 2024-2028 artistic and cultural program of the GrandPalaisRmn.

In honor of the house’s support, the entrance to the museum was inaugurated in April 2024 to be named “Gabrielle Chanel” in tribute of Chanel’s founder.

The public will be able to visit the new areas of the museum with potential exhibitions and events by June 2025.
