CHANEL CRUISE PARIS-SEOUL BEHIND THE SCENES

Chanel Cruise 2016 Paris-Seoul

This season, Karl Lagerfeld chose Seoul, Korea, as destination for the Chanel Cruise 2016 collection. The show took place in the futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza designed by architect Zaha Hadid. Lagerfeld took inspiration from the Korean culture to create a collection that was colorful, bold and as contemporary as ever. On the clothes, fuchsia pink meets intense orange, violet, turquoise and mint green. Textured fabric like woven tweed and cotton contrast with lighter textiles such as shantung, this type of raw silk coming from Asia that Coco Chanel loved to use, as well as linen, organza, tulle and lace. Once again, the avant-garde is in the details, as delicate embroideries complement ethereal, geometric patchworks. The shapes are round and free, the cuts are wide to allow fluidity of movement. All in all, lightness prevails for this new Chanel Cruise collection, joyfully joining the colorful spirit of Seoul.
