87 YEARS OF TRADITION: CHANEL « LA PAUSA » RISES

It was 87 years ago, on 30th September 1928, when Gabrielle Chanel decided to buy a piece of land on the French Riviera. The designer entirely built, imagined and decorated the house according to all kinds of inspirations. And today, on 30th September 2015, the brand Chanel just announced they bought it back. In those days, Gabrielle Chanel used to spend her holidays in the South of France with the Duke of Westminster. Then she had the brilliant idea to buy the villa overhanging the Martin Cape, at the heart of Mediterranean sea. Actually, the Chanel La Pausa Villa is marked with many architecture influences, such as Aubezine abbey. This abbey is a place whose signification is particularly precious to Gabrielle Chanel, since she spent her adolescence there, as an orphan. Chanel La Pausa Villa was, at the time, the absolute place to be. Jean Cocteau, Paul Iribe, Serge Lifar, Pierre Reverdy or Salvador Dali were reglar guests there. But in 1954, Gabrielle Chanel decides to sell La Pausa an american author named Emery Reves. Again, La Pausa becomes the spot of many kinds of celebrations and welcomes celebrities like Winston Churchill, Great Garbo or Jackie Onassis. Nowadays, the fact that Chanel decided to buy back the Villa is a pure tribute to the craftsmanship of the House, its traditions and values.
