CHANEL SPRING-SUMMER 2015 PARIS
By Crash redaction
Welcome to Boulevard Chanel, the chicest street anyone has ever seen. For the Chanel Spring-Summer 2015 collection, Karl Lagerfeld had the idea to recreate a whole Parisian-like boulevard in the heart of the Grand Palais. On the runway – or should we say street – models sported designs mostly inspired by the Parisian way of life. Rectangular grey appliqués on some dresses referenced the cobblestones to be found in the French capital. With more than eighty looks, Lagerfeld once again showed a great range of silhouettes with a recurrence of low-waisted flare pants and branded gold Chanel belts that kept the waist tight on little dresses and suits. A play on menswear that translates into derivations of the white shirt and black and white stripes on suits. On purses, inscriptions like « Je ne suis pas en solde » (I’m not on sale) or « Féministe mais féminine » (Feminist but still feminine) were to be found. With Lagerfeld, there is always an element of surprise and humour: for the finale, models pounded the pavement as though they were on strike, with placards saying « Boys should get pregnant too », « Make fashion not war » or « Women rights are more than alright ». Not doubt that Lagerfeld has taken feminism to another level: once again, the Kaiser found the perfect way to catch everyone’s attention not only with his impeccable and always inspired collections but also with his ability to put on a show.
